At the fair in Friedrichshafen we meet Corrado Rusalen, founder of Alpi Aviation, a Friulian company in Italy that this year is celebrating 20 years and 1000 airplanes produced. Alpi Aviation was born 20 years ago, and we have built 6 different models of aircrafts plus a helicopter over the years and this year’s novelty that is the twin-engine. Of the 6 aircrafts we have the Pioneer 200 version with fixed landing gear, the Pioneer 300 version with a retractable landing gear. The Pioneer 330 version is an acrobatic trainer, the Pioneer 400 version and then the various configurations of fixed and retractable landing gear. In the interview Engineer Raffaele Lugli, chief designer of Alpi Aviation, explains why the Friulian aviation industry has been building aircraft with wooden structures for over 20 years.
